A Simple Cowl

When I went to two classes with The Shibaguyz back in October, I purchased 2 skeins of Ella Rae Seasons yarn.

I have been looking and trying several patterns with this yarn, but nothing I chose showed off the lovely color change.

Wandering through A.C. Moore one day, I saw a free pattern card for Lion Brand’s Simple Cowl.  A simple pattern of BLSC which you seam together at the end.

I took that idea and did a simple cowl in the round, alternating each round BLSC and FLSC.  Which gives it nice ridge.  Also, I did not do a CH 1 at the end of each round, I just did a spiral until the yarn ended.

This simple pattern shows off the lovely color changes.

I found the yarn somewhat scratchy, and since I plan on sending this to someone, I needed a way to soften it up.

My friend J to the rescue.  She had samples of Unicorn Fiber Wash and Rinse which she let me use.

This worked well, the cowl is now nice and soft.  I have to say, I’m not a fan of the scent of the wash & rinse, but I tend to be very sensitive to scents.  They do have a fragrance free line for baby items which I will purchase.

Sometimes a simple pattern is the best choice for the yarn!
