I was asked to make a winter blanket for my cousin’s son…something warm for traveling in the car.
I had made a Call the Midwife Blanket prior to his birth and I know it is well used and well loved.
I was happy to make a second blanket for this cutie!
Recently, across my Facebook feed came Little Monkeys Crochet Comfy Squares Textured Blanket-perfect! (Little Monkey’s Crochet-also the designer of the Call the Midwife Blanket!)
I would have loved to make a blanket in colors similar to the designer, but I really want to use yarn from my stash this year.
I had Lion Brand Jiffy bulky yarn in the following colors:
Denim Blue (2 skeins used)
Apple Green (2 skeins used)
Fisherman (1 skein used)
Furls Odyssey Hook-5.5mm
What I love about this pattern is the neat color changes and the very neat/straight edges.
A simple pattern of SC and HDC which make beautiful textures with the look of little squares. In between the color changes are two rows of SC which make such a neat devision of color. Each row ends with a SC and a chain 1 which makes for a very neat/straight edge. No need to make a border for this blanket.
Although I made this blanket a carseat/stroller size, it is a blanket that I will easily be able to add on as the cutie grows older!
Happy Crocheting!
