It is February and we still have a Christmas rug in front of the stove.
Time to change.
In an effort to work only with stash yarn (and hopefully use up a lot in 2016), I have made a kitchen rug!
Inspired by Lion Brand’s Step Lively Rug, I searched my stash for cotton yarn. A few months back, our local A.C. Moore had its grand opening and I scored 10 skeins of free Premier Home Cotton yarn. I had picked Christmas colors thinking I would make Attic 24’s Christmas wreath (I never did), so I had cream, red, blue and green to use.
This rug reminds me of rag rugs I used to see growing up in the 70’s.
I used 8 skeins, making this entire project less than $10.00 (for me, only the cost of the rug pad, as I got the yarn for free).
I attached a rug pad to the back using a simple stitch. This will allow me to cut the stitch, remove the pad and be able to wash the rug when necessary.
For barely any money, a nice change to the kitchen!
Happy Crocheting!

Love your rug! Great idea about attaching the non slip pad, too. Stopping by from Submarine Sunday link up.

Looks great and you are so brave to have a rug in the kitchen! My floor always gets so dirty any rug would be destroyed in a day, but I do love the look, so good for you. Thanks so much for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!

Thank you! I have to say it may not work out using the rug in the kitchen. Unless I can figure out a way to keep the corners from folding up…don’t want anyone to trip!
Love your blog!
