I WILL make a dent in my yarn stash in 2016!
I had a partial skein of RedHeart Unforgettable in Stained Glass.
What to make…
Well, unfortunately my appointment for a cut and color has had to be reschedule twice and since I don’t want to subject people to my frizzy, too long bangs, faded/half grown out purple hair, I thought a slouchy hat was the right project!
I wanted something easy to make and a quick search of Ravelry provided The Hadley Slouch by Acquanetta Ferguson.
A simple pattern of double crochet, I quickly realized my partial skein was not going to be enough. Luckily, I also had a partial skein of Unforgettable in Candied.
I frogged a few rows and started alternating between the two color ways. I do wish I had frogged further back to make it blend better, but…oh well! When it is on my head, you don’t notice the change in skeins as much as when it is laying flat.
I also chose to do a reverse single crochet final row. Half way through I changed my mind, but if you’ve ever worked with this yarn you know how difficult it can be to frog. So, I had to continue the reverse single crochet.
Over all, I am happy with the end result.
It can be worn slouchy or as a beanie with the brim folded up!
