Usually, when a new baby arrives in the family, I make a baby blanket.
Unfortunately, I did not have time to do this for the newest arrival.
Fortunately, the mom had a request. I was texted a picture of a sweet hat with a heart appliqué and a request to make one for Baby J.
Since it was a picture from Etsy, I had to improvise.
I found this sweet looking hat on a Bernat Baby Softee wrapper, searched the site and found the pattern.
I made the body of the hat with a 4.5mm hook and then increased to a 5.5mm for the decorative edging.
Since I was working with DK weight yarn, it was hard to find a good heart appliqué that would be big enough. Youtube to the rescue! This tutorial from Crochet Lovers was great! This is also the site I used to make the ears for my Woodland Cowl.
I also made an Easy Granny Baby Hat. Very simple and very cute!
I also made a Shell Stitch Beanie by The Dainty Daisy. Although the hat looks very long and tubular in the picture, it stretches and really shows the stitch pattern well.
Happy Crocheting!
