Last weeks selection, Bonita Faye, was a really fun read. Well, if you can say a book about child abuse, domestic abuse and murder is “fun”. I enjoyed all the characters and despite the subjects, it was not a dark, depressing book. More a story of survival, friendship and love of all kinds.
This weeks pick is The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee. I know, at some point, I read a review of this book and wanted to read it. I was searching available titles in Overdrive, and there it was. I am only about 50 pages in, but it is holding my interest.
In the limited time I have had to knit or crochet, I have picked up my Terribly Simple Shawl by Caitlin french. A simple shawl using knit stitch and knit front/back. I chose this project because of its simplicity, as this is my first project using DK weight and smaller needles. I also wanted to create a neater edge, so I used this video to learn how to slip the first stitch.
Honestly, I don’t know what my obsession with shawls is all about??? I do wear this shawl around the house and I love how warm it is. But, really…how many shawls do I need? That being said, I am also joining Marley Bird’s Shawl KAL via RedHeart.com…more on that Friday!
Happy Reading, Knitting & Crocheting
