I finished The Nightingale and enjoyed it very much.
Although, I felt it was a little long.
However, I have no idea what could have been removed from the story.
From the library Overdrive, I borrowed The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald.
Originally written in Swedish, it was translated into English a few years ago.
Broken Wheel, Iowa, has never seen anyone like Sara, who traveled all the way from Sweden just to meet her book-loving pen pal, Amy. When she arrives, however, she finds Amy’s funeral guests just leaving. The residents of Broken Wheel are happy to look after their bewildered visitor-there’s not much else to do in a dying small town that’s almost beyond repair.
You certainly wouldn’t open a bookstore. And definitely not with the tourist in charge. You’d need a vacant storefront (Main Street is full of them), books (Amy’s house is full of them), and…customers.
The bookstore might be a little quirky. Then again, so is Sara. But Broken Wheel’s own story might be more eccentric and surprising than she thought.
A heartwarming reminder of why we are booklovers, this is a sweet, smart story about how books find us, change us, and connect us.
Given four stars on GoodReads, it seemed like a good pick.
In my last Yarn Along post I wrote that I was working on a knitted Lacy Keyhole Scarf.
I finished that, and also started my husband’s Honeycomb Blanket.
This blanket will be a long term project which I will be linking to thistlebear’s Winter Link Party each month.
Yesterday, I started Cre8tion Crochet’s Newsboy Slouch Crochet Hat.
I had picked up some Peace Fleece (color way Blueberry Borscht) at my LYS.
Something in me was just drawn to the color and I had to have it!
I tried several patterns (both knit and crochet) and frogged them all.
This yarn wanted to be this hat.
Now I just hope I have enough to make the brim and I need to google how to block a hat!

You are a project machine right now! Can’t wait to see all the progress. Love that yarn, too.
