London Sky

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…. I bought some yarn.

Beautiful, Malabrigo Mecha yarn in the color way London Sky.

I loved the color and how soft it was.

I really wanted to use this yarn to make something for my mom.

In 2008, my mom and I went to London together and had a wonderful time!

Since I am new to knitting, I chose a pattern from Tin Can Knits Simple Collection.

The Oats Cowl.

Fittingly, I have London inspired stitch markers (I made them my self, which was fun).

For this, I used my Big Ben stitch marker.

I made a few adjustments.

I did a 2X2 rib instead of a 1X1 rib.

The body of my cowl  measures 5 instead of the 8 inches in the pattern, as I only had 130 yards to work with.

Also, I didn’t realize this was chunky yarn and still used 5mm needles.

However, I really like how it made the stitches defined and helps make it a nice warm cowl.

I love this so much, I am making one for myself using yarn I originally purchased to make Miss ME a sweater (I’m honest with myself, I’m never going to make the sweater any time soon).

I plan on using the yarn to make Oats and Malt (hat).

Lovely yarn stitch marker and cowl! Your Mother is going to love it. I always like things that have a connection to a memory or an event. Also, in the “snow” post… little girl is darling and what a cute picture of the 2 of you!
