Happy Wednesday!
Yarn Along day here on Simply Summer Street.
I finished reading Carrie Fisher’s Shockaholic.
Sort of a rambling book, but entertaining.
I always appreciated how open and honest she was regarding her struggles with mental illness.
Depression has affected my life and I am open and honest about it.
Stigma about mental illness needs to be removed.
Currently, I am about three quarters of the way through The Widow.
I am enjoying it although it is tough subject matter (child abduction and child abuse).
I have also started Wally Lamb’s I’ll Take You There.
I’ll Take You There centers on Felix, a film scholar who runs a Monday night movie club in what was once a vaudeville theater. One evening, while setting up a film in the projectionist booth, he’s confronted by the ghost of Lois Weber, a trailblazing motion picture director from Hollywood’s silent film era. Lois invites Felix to revisit—and in some cases relive—scenes from his past as they are projected onto the cinema’s big screen.
My project this week is finishing my TinCanKnits Oat Cowl.
Monday, Esther from Its All In a Nutshell is going to launch video tutorials for Look At What I Made’s Charlotte Square.
I have wanted to make this square for a long, long time and I’m ready to start on Monday.
I am going to make this the center of a baby blanket.
Using red, white & blue DK yarn (Chicago Cubs colors), I am worried that this square is too “girly” for a boy.
Except, I really want to make this square…
I think any blanket design that is made with love is right for a boy or girl…right?

Have a good week!
I don’t think it is too girly at all.
I crocheted my grown up son a blanket for his birthday this year. it was many colors and lacy motifs he loves it.

I’m curious about these squares. Can you post links? Glad you have some good reading goin’ on and the Oat Cowl is a great, mindless knit for multi-tasking. I had made one I believe for my SIL two Christmases ago so she’d match in some way with my nephew and niece’s Flax jumpers.

Thanks-I forgot to put the link in. I added it to the post and it is here too!
I don’t know what it is about this square, it was love at first sight!
