I had a lot of yarn left over from the kid’s Harry Potter Crochet Cable hat, so I decided to make myself a Harry Potter inspired hat.
I didn’t want the traditional HP stripes, so I went for random stranding color work.
The basic pattern is from Charmed Knits by Alison Hansel, the House Hat Beanie pattern.
I made the adult size, casting on 108 stitches.
I used my book, The Knitter’s Book of Knowledge, to learn basic stranded technique.
Holding yarn in each hand as I worked, I did a random pattern of stitches.
I also used double point needles for a portion of it (something I need a lot of work on)
I really liked out the color pattern turned out!
However, I should have cast on less stitches-it is LARGE.
I plan on using a pin to gather the ribbing a little to make it a tad tighter.
I definitely am better at crochet hats then knit hats.
I’ll be getting a lot of use out of this hat as we’ve had a lot of snow lately and the kids are loving going outside!
Have a wonderful day!

Love this simple colorwork! Hope you will be able to fix the sizing. The snow photos are full of joy 🙂
