Yarn Along

I live on the border of another town and utilize many businesses and amenities of that town.

I follow the library on Facebook and it is doing a One Book, One Community event.

The book choice is A Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner.

September 1911. On Ellis Island in New York Harbor, nurse Clara Wood cannot face returning to Manhattan, where the man she loved fell to his death in the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. Then, while caring for a fevered immigrant whose own loss mirrors hers, she becomes intrigued by a name embroidered onto the scarf he carries …and finds herself caught in a dilemma that compels her to confront the truth about the assumptions she’s made. Will what she learns devastate her or free her?

September 2011. On Manhattan’s Upper West Side, widow Taryn Michaels has convinced herself that she is living fully, working in a charming specialty fabric store and raising her daughter alone. Then a long-lost photograph appears in a national magazine, and she is forced to relive the terrible day her husband died in the collapse of the World Trade Towers …the same day a stranger reached out and saved her. Will a chance reconnection and a century-old scarf open Taryn’s eyes to the larger forces at work in her life?

I put it on hold at my library and it just came in.

It had me hooked right from the get-go.

When I opened up to the title page, there was a post-it from someone who took it out before me informing the next reader that it was a wonderful book and will be hard to put down.

How cute is that?!

The only problem?

It is not on my kindle, so I’m not reading it as fast as I want (I get a lot of reading done when I can’t sleep in the middle of the night…can’t turn the lights on to read an actual book).

This week, along with my Charlotte Baby Blanket and some sewing homework, I am working on a Boom! Shawl (a free patten by Playing with Fibre, found on Ravelry).

I had purchased a Caron Cake in Rainbow Sherbet and I searched for a project by the yarn.

I love how other Caron Cake colors worked up.

BTW, I love my new carry-all from Joann’s.

60% off plus another 25% off, it was a steal.

It is great holding my “mindless, watching TV” knitting project.

Have a good week!
