Miss ME has discovered the joy of going to the library!
Since I believe the library is one of the most wonderful places around, I’m really happy with her discovery.
We go at least once a week.
We discuss what type of books she wants that week.
We discuss asking the librarian to help us find the books.
We use the computer that has the fun educational games.
It is a big adventure.
This week, E came with us too!
So, every girl needs a library bag!
I used this tutorial from Crazy Little Projects.
An easy tutorial for a Kids Library Bag.
Miss ME and I looked at the fabric I had available.
Of course, Minnie Mouse was chosen, then she chose purple polka dots for the lining.
I chose to make the handles out of canvas for strength.
(It is not perfect-I plan on ripping out the top stitch to redo it and neaten it up.)
And, I chose to make the straps too long for Miss ME.
Because…our library trips always end the same way.
Me: “all done library”.
Miss ME say: “NOOOOOOOOOOOOO…not all done library”.
Me: chasing Miss ME.
Me: picking her up.
Miss ME: “More library, more library”.
Me struggling to carry her and the books.
So, the straps are long enough to go over my shoulder 😉
This week, Miss ME chose the following books:
- Moonbeam Bear
- Pete the Cat Old McDonald
- How to Drive a Snowplow
- The Sleepy Owl
(Last week was all about dinosaurs)
E chose the following books:
- Elmo’s Walk in the Woods
- Sesame Streets Have Yourself a Furry Little Christmas
(He’s been totally into Sesame Street lately).
Have a good week!
Great job on your daughter’s library tote! The fabric is cute.

I didn’t know you had a little boy? Yes, I loved the library when I was young too. Sadly, the library here leaves much to be desired and so I just get books on my Kindle now or from Thrift Books.

Yes! A 4 year old cutie pa-tootie boy! I feel for you and your less than lovely library. Ours isn’t aesthetically pleasing, but it has a lot! I’m a library junkie. I actually visit libraries when we travel, especially if they are an old lovely building!

Hooray! My kids have just discovered the library too. Last week we borrowed way too many books – I might have to go and look up all the titles then go hunting round the house…
And that fabric is lovely. Thanks for the idea of library bags; both my kids have birthdays soon, so I think they might each get one.
