Many moons ago, I saw Purl Soho’s Color Tipped Scarf.
I loved it!
Sat in my Ravelry queue for-everrrr.
It wasn’t until I saw the completed scarf made by Stephanie at Wooly Cakes and Wooden Spoons that I knew I had to make it (granted, it still took me a long time to cast on).
I finally cast on after I finished my felted project bag.
I used only stash yarn and I wanted it washable.
I used three colors of Vanna’s Choice yarn:
- Grey Marble
- Dusky Blue
- Oatmeal
Although the oatmeal and grey marble are close, you can certainly tell I used two different colors.
I love that they are similar, but different.
I continued increasing until I had 40 stitches on my needle (if I were to do it again, I might make the width less…maybe 35 stitches instead).
I also chose not to do the color switch as the pattern instructs.
I chose to break up the addition of the new color, I wasn’t a fan of the abrupt color change.
I love this look, but I really love the wrong side!
I used up almost the entire three skeins, just enough left over to make Miss ME a hat with the same colors.
Although I dropped one stitch and had trouble fixing that (you can see the spot in the first picture), I don’t mind (it is actually one of my better fixes-yet another reason to finally watch my Craftsy knitting classes).
I love this scarf and plan on wearing it a lot this winter!

Have a good week!
The scarf is lovely! Congrats on finishing it! 🙂 If I dropped a stitch, it would be the end of the world for me lol…I’m not good at fixing them!

Thats how I used to be! Or I would take it to a friend who would fix it. Learning, learning, learning!

I love your scarf! It looks like something doable for me, so I’ve put in my Favorites bundle on Ravelry. I also love the differently toned neutrals on the tips. It’s an unexpected, but interesting detail.

I remember when Stefanie made that scarf and I loved it then and love it now! Why I haven’t cast one on is beyond me…too many WIP’s? LOL! Yours turned out great…I love how you striped it and the colors you chose!

Wasn’t her scarf stunning! I loved her version! Hers is much longer than mine but I was using up stash yarn and didn’t have enough of each color. It is a great length though!
