Silver Linings

I love magazines.

Knitting, crochet, sewing, cooking, running and pop culture.

I have this grand idea that I will cook recipes, knit items and sew fun things from patterns in the magazines.

However, I rarely do it.

I tried to change that this week.

I chose a simple coaster pattern from Simply Sewing (I love this magazine-I signed up for a subscription recently).

I went on the site and downloaded the template.

I traced, sewed, fused and cut four coasters.

A BIG disaster.

Ugh, they turned out HORRIBLE.

Honestly, I didn’t even have fun sewing them.

As I sat there looking at the four disastrous coasters, I remembered that I had purchased a mug rug kit from Missouri Star Quilt Co. during one of their sales.

I decided to try a couple of these.

Although I didn’t follow the patterns included in the kit, I had fun making these and am pleased!

Aren’t they cute!!

A hodgepodge of stash fabrics, both gifted scraps from a friend and a 5″ charm pack I received free from MSQ Co. as part of the sale.

I have one by my seat on our couch and my husband has one by his recliner.

(Using my brother’s Beatles glass-memories indeed)

The third one went in the mail to a friend.

I am currently using a saying to make a larger one for my bedside table.

Ahhhhh, its so nice when things go well 🙂

Have a good weekend!

So glad to hear I am not the only one with good magazine intentions . Lol

Your rectangular coasters are sweet. So glad you didn’t give up when the round ones were a disaster.

That’s great you make use of your magazine subscriptions. Sorry the circular coasters didn’t work out. I’m surprised it has your seams show on the outside. But the second set is wonderful. The fabric really makes them. I like how there’s a saying among the print.
