I really….really want to start making Joji Locatelli’s The Easy Bulky One.

I purchased the pattern and yarn for this a while ago.

However, I am trying to be good and finish some WIPS before I start a new project (or else these WIPS will stay WIPS forever).

First up, my Hagrid’s Home Blanket.

I was ready to move onto the final skein of yarn and, sadly, I apparently purchased the wrong color months ago.

The only way I can find it is on Etsy for crazy money.

Now, this blanket is ugly.

I admit it, most people would find the browns and grays not attractive for an afghan, but I really like it…it is very earthy to me.

So, into my stash I dove.

I found one skein of Lion Brand Woolspun in Honey (a goldish brown) and three skeins of Jiffy in gray.

I am splitting the Woolspun and making a border on each end and then I’ll finish the blanket by splitting the Jiffy skeins on each end.

Then, this blanket will finally be done!

It won’t be as long as I wanted, but it will still make a warm blanket for me while I’m watching tv.

Next up, my Faux Fair Isle Poncho.

I switched to a larger cable and was able to try it on.

Too small.

I intentionally made the XL-2XL size to make it very roomy.

So, I’m going to continue.

I will soak it and block it which will hopefully make it bigger.

If it doesn’t, I’ll donate it to Hooking for the Homeless.

I did finish one sewing project.

After making three mug rugs, I made a cover for my bedside table.

I used Moda charm packs and the border is left over from my husband’s quilt backing.

I used some stash floral fabric for the back.

It is not symmetrical and is really a hodgepodge, but I like it!

As I finish these, along with my socks, I’ll finally tackle my first sweater!

Have a good week!

There is no such thing as an ugly blanket. If you love the colors then it is perfect in every aspect, I love all the garter stitch on it. It will make for a nice cuddly blanket.

I hope your poncho blocks out for you. If not, there will be a warm homeless person who will be thankful.

You really do make good use of you fabric scraps. The nighstand table cover is perfect and charming.

Hopefully you will be able to wrap up those WIPs and get busy on your sweater.

I LOVE the colours of your blanket – but then I am an autumn type gal!! The quilt saying is so cute. I like your idea of donating the poncho. I have sooooo many sweaters I don’t wear anymore that I knit and I think charity is where they belong. Thanks for the idea. Can’t wait to see the pattern you chose for your first sweater. You are a crafting machine!
