It is finally done!
In January I cast on what I was calling my Hagrid’s Home Blanket.
Called that due to the colors.
I found Caron Sprinkle Cakes (color Pecan Fudge) at Michaels on sale for $3.00/skein so I purchased 5 skeins to make a nice weight afghan.
This has been my “while I watch tv” project.
A simple garter stitch blanket, it was a nice mindless project.
To make a nice braided edge look, I purled the last stitch and slipped the first stitch knit wise.
Unfortunately, when I went to start the 5th and final skein, I realized I had picked up the wrong color.
Looking online, you can only order them from Michaels in packs of 3 and the store no longer stocked them.
So, stash diving I went.
I made a border on each end using Lion Brand Wool Spun in Honey and Lion Brand Jiffy in Silver Heather and I think they blend in nicely.
I was not totally successful in picking up stitches on the cast on edge…looks slightly wonky but seriously, who cares!
I have woven all the ends in, but have left some tails because I plan on using a little liquid stitch or Fray Check so the ends don’t “unweave” when I wash it (sacrilege I know, but I live with little kids so this is going to be washed quite a bit).
This is a nice weight blanket and I really like the earthy colors.
Happy to have finished this before this years Year of Projects ends!
Next WIP to complete, my sock toes 😉
Have a great week!
