Wayyyy back in August, I started a Harry Potter Gryffindor inspired scarf.

I had intended it to be a long, fringed scarf.

However, in all honesty, I became bored knitting it.

So instead I made it into a cowl!

I believe I cast on 70 stitches and knit 20 rows of each color.

I used Stitch Studio by Nicole yarn and it was easy to work with and made a soft cowl.

One thing I wanted to avoid was the jump you get when joining a new color.

I found this tutorial by Knit Purl Hunter for jogless stripes and by golly it worked well!

Because I did not originally intend for this to be a cowl, I used this tutorial to join the ends (I used this when sewing a cowl).

Miss Mary and I packaged this up and sent it to our babysitter who is studying in Maine.

We think it will help keep her warm 🙂

Have a great week!

Love the cowl idea. I am sure the recipient will be very please with it. I think I like the cowl better than the scarf. Everyone has a HP scarf but I have yet to see a HP cowl. Good move.

Thanks for linking to the tutorial. I love to knit top down raglans but I’ve shied away from colorwork because the jog would be all too visible in the front of the sweater. I’ll try this soon and see if it works as well as on your loop.
