I’m not sure how I stumbled across it, but I was on Youtube and found a tutorial from Made Every Day for her Summer Day Top.
It looked pretty easy, so I purchased the pattern.
It is easy!
There are many options (sleeves, cap sleeves, tunic, peplum, etc) and what I like most is the variety of fabric you can use.
To make my first shirts, I used quilting cotton.
In the video, she finishes her seams with pinking shears.
Instead of doing it after the seams were sewn, I cut out the pattern with pinking shears.
Between cutting and sewing (and interruptions from the kids), these shirts probably took me one hour each.
I wore one of them on a very hot day and I stayed pretty cool!
More on the above picture here!
Have a great week!
The top looks very comfortable and cool to wear. And the fabrics you chose – very pretty. What a sweet picture of you and your son. Thanks for linking to the other story! 🙂

Wow that is a speedy make! The yellow top goes so well with the aubergine coloured shorts. I wish I could sew. One day I’ll learn and will come back to all the lovely things you’ve made and have a go!

What a darling top(s)! I have always professed that cotton is cooler in the summer as opposed to the knit t-shirts that so many wear. I’ll have to take a look at her pattern.

Well done with sewing your tops. Special Olympics are so inspiring – I have two friends whose children participate in both swimming and one of them in golf too!
