Yesterday, I took an applique workshop at my local sewing studio.
I’ve never done it but have long admired the technique.
We told our teacher in advance which project we wanted to do and she had kits made up for us (saves time instead of us picking out fabric and measuring).
I chose this one:
We traced cut and cut out our shapes.
Then we layered and used heat &bond
Then we got to work.
First though, finding our preferred settings.
Over all, I did pretty well.
Did great with my truck and tree, not so much with the tires/hubcaps and straight stitching (straight lines-never my strength).
Super cute, with practice this technique is something I could see myself enjoying!
Also, fun fact- those of us who brought vintage machines were the only ones who had no issues with our needles gumming up from the heat & bond and no bobbin trouble.
One woman had my exact machine!
Once again, I keep thinking I want a new machine but so far no need to get one!
Have a great week!
