Pop Top Hat

Miss Mary requested a new winter hat…an orange hat.

She’s learning to spell and orange is now one of her favorite words.

Luckily I had some FibraNatura Inca in Coral in my stash and she liked the color.

From Ravelry, I found a cute free pattern- Pop Top Hot by YaYa Lovestoknit.

I underestimated my longtail cast on so I only cast on 80 stitches (this did affect the middle section repeat, but honestly who will notice?)

I used a 3.75mm for the rib, the used a 4.5mm for the body of the hat.

I did not do the rolled brim, starting with the 2×2 ribbing.

I followed the pattern until I reached the color work.

I wanted to use the color work to practice continental knitting.

I did pretty good knitting the cream continental, although I did notice a difference in my tension.

I did 1:1, then 2:1, then 4:1.

After the 4:1 I knit the remainder with the contrast cream color (I had run out of enough Coral to do a final knit round in that color).

I originally thought I’d attach a fur pompom, but a orange and cream pompom was requested.

A successful hat!

(You can see the repeat mess up, but for me it just shows where the back is!)

Have a great week!
