The magic of the Ravelry Year of Projects Group!
I couldn’t let another week go by without an YOP update.
So I buckled down and finished my Moonbow Slouchy Knit Cardigan by Mama in a Stitch.
Now, a few things.
I honestly forget I’m tall, so this is not slouchy on me (notice I left that part out in my post title).
In the designer photos, the cardigan hits much lower on her…more tops of thighs.
Mine hits at my hips.
Due to that, I’m not sure I want to put on the pockets.
I have them made with a pop of color for added detail, I may add them at a later date.
Making this cardigan, I also realized I’m not a fan of seaming (especially bulky weight yarn).
I appreciate that seaming makes the cardigan a convenient travel project as you can take just the panel/part you are working on.
I’m just not a fan of the bulky seam inside.
So those are the slight negatives.
Positives:
I love the aesthetic details the garter ridge on the panels made…such delightful detail on the sides and arms.
The pattern was clearly written and easily followed.
I used Lion Brand Hue + Me Yarn by Two of Wands.
I love the yarn, beautiful colors and so warm…there are lots of free patterns available on the site as well.
Now, opposed to my other cardigan WIP (with the same yarn), this cardigan was knit on 10mm needles and I really like the result…My Audrey Cardigan is knit on 6mm and is a much tighter fabric which will make the cardigan a winter coat rather than a wear inside cardigan.
I have a feeling this will become my “run out the bus to get the kids” cardigan come fall.

I love it! I agree it probably doesn’t need the pockets as they may be too high to work, but the shape, fit and colour is perfect – well done!

Congrats on your FO. The sweater looks terrific as it is. Love where it falls at your hips. Tall – so jealous. Thankful none of my kids got my “shortness” although none made it to 6+ ft like their dad.

The cardi looks great on you. I agree about leaving the pockets off. They would be very high. I think this will be a great sweater to grab and put on for those chilly mornings when you take the kids to the bus or even go for a little walk. It looks so comfy and cozy. That is a great color too.

Looks awesome! I am sure it will be your grab and go sweater through the fall. Well done, and your notes are very helpful. I don’t usually knit with such large needles and bulky yarn but this post has me intrigued to give it a try. I am with you though. I hate seaming. That is why I like ganseys so much – no seaming, but not easy to take out and about to knit, and so hot to have on my lap during the hot summer days. Piece knitting makes that more doable for sure.

I love the style and colour of yarn, you lost me when you talked about seaming though…I don’t enjoy seaming but can see I am missing out on some fun projects by avoiding them. This looks like a nice hug on a chilly evening.

As a not tall, but kinda tall lady myself, the slouchy look is tough to achieve for me too. Usually I run out of yarn and/or patience before sweaters are “long enough” to be tunic length.
But I agree, it is a SUPER CUTE cardigan!
