July Books…The Good & The Bad

July was a hard month (emotionally), so most of my reads were my comfort reads-Cozy Mysteries.

My standout audio books were: The Hour of Death and Abide With Me, both Sister Agatha and Father Selwyn Mysteries (great narrators-they seemed to switch to a new narrator with book 3 Abide With Me).

My Middle Grade stand out was Chirp by Kate Messner.

Pictured are my top reads of the month, all 4 stars:

*Revival Season by Monica West: this was a heavy read that I thought about for days (please check online for trigger warnings for this book)

*Murder at the PTA by Lee Hollis: this felt different that other cozies….heavier maybe? I already purchased book #2.

*The Plot is Murder by VM Burns: a true cozy! A bookstore setting, a book seller and her kick a** grandma (and her friends) solve a murder.

*A is for Aunties by Jesse Q Sutanto: just a fun book! I recommend her interview on Sarah’s Bookshelves Live.

*Yoga Pant Nation by Laurie Gelman: I just love this entire series and this was a perfect continuation of the story.

My disappoint book this month was Arsenic and Adobe by Mia P Manansala…just didn’t work for me.

A total of 16 books read/listened to.

Books are my therapy.

Sometimes the first book in a new series is a slow start. I’m going to read the second of that Filipino series to see if I’ll read more. I’m still craving Filipino food!
