Workout Recap

The week started with a bang-The Run For Recovery.

The very first race of the Boston Bulldogs Running Club.

A group of us from work did this and it was a great race with a very emotional vigil after.

I had not been running much and I was almost the last finisher, but hey, I finished!

(there are more people behind…I wasn’t THAT much at the back of the pack!)

I also did 22 Minute Hard Corps Cardio I and Resistance I several times this week (my kids hid my 21 Day Fix DVDs…found yesterday thank goodness).

I did a few  treadmill runs, breaking in my new Sauconys (bright sneakers make me smile!).

I finished the week with a really great trail run with my friend Laurie.

Unfortunately, my I forgot my Forerunner and my app did not track my mileage.  I believe it was about 3 miles, but honestly I don’t care…it was just a fun run in the woods!

I am so proud of Laurie! She did a couch to 5K program to be able to run The Run for Recovery and now she is leaving me (literally) in her dust!

There is a great farm/forest near her house and we’ve agreed to try to do a weekly weekend run.  So much more enjoyable running through nature than down my busy street.

Have a good weekend!

Housebound Hat

Another snow storm is upon us.

School is cancelled.

We will have lots of shoveling and snow blowing to do.

So, of course, make a hat!

I love the Hudson Bay Hat I made Miss ME, so I made one for myself.

Pattern found here.

This time I used Bernat Softee Chunky in Grey Ragg, basically the color of the sky right now.

Finished in one hour, this is a nice hat that won’t squish my bangs down when I’ve actually managed to do my hair!

Happy Crocheting!

(I also managed to do 21 Day Fix Extreme Upper before the kids were awake…no Monday night Spin class due to snow)

Nutrition Reboot

So far, my exercise plan for 2016 has been right on track.

I have been doing at least two runs per week.  I joined our local YMCA and have become a Monday Night Spin regular. I have been doing 21 Day Fix workouts and 90% of the time have been exceeding my daily step goal.

However, my food and nutrition have been lacking.

Time for that to change.  I never felt as good as when I was eating clean using The 21 Day Fix program.

Officially, I am starting 21 Day Fix Extreme tomorrow. Today I’ll be recording my weight and my measurements.

Today was all about food prep.

Mostly recipes from Fixate, I am set for some healthy/portion size controlled eating this week.

image

Today I made the following:

Hardboiled eggs

Steel cut oats with organic brown sugar

Fixate Quinoa Salad (to be used as a side or main dish with shredded chicken)

Shredded Chicken to use for Fixate Chicken Salad and Chicken Stuffed Peppers

Fixate Honey Mustard Dressing, to use for chicken salad (Delicious!)

Taco meat to use with Zoodles and Zucchini boats

Fixate Peanutty Peanut Butter Squares (sweet tooth control)

I have lots of fruit ready for Shakelolgy smoothies, quick snacks and sides at lunch.  I also have almonds ready for snack at work.

Eating healthy is a challenge and its best if I am not caught unprepared.

Hopefully, I’ll survive the Extreme workouts!

Have a great week!

Work Out Recap

Last week was a good cardio week for me.

Spinning, hill walking, treadmill runs, 21 Day Fix Total Body Cardio and 21 Day Fix Upper and Lower.

Total steps per my FitBit = 83, 335.

Joining a FitBit Work Week Hustle challenge for this week.

Spinning and a run on the books for tonight! (Love having Netflix to use on the treadmill)

Have a good week!

Fixate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Continuing on my quest to make many of the recipes in the Fixate CookBook, I tackled Chocolate Chip Cookies.

I did not have almond flour, so I used white whole wheat flour.

Changes I needed to make:

~ I had to add a small amount of almond milk as my dough was too crumbly (attributing this to my use of whole wheat flour)

~ Decrease baking time to 10 minutes

I would say (for me) these are more like chocolate chip scones.  They were tasty and a hit with my 3 year old!

Who says it is boring?

Clean eating doesn’t have to be boring!

21 Day Fix Labor Day Challenge

I am participating in Autumn Calabrese’s 21 Day Fix Labor Day Facebook Challenge.

My personal goals are to reach 50 pounds lost, complete my Virtual 10K race, continue with Zumba on Sundays and try at least 1 new recipe per week.

All attainable I think!

Here is to a good start!
