I read over 60 books in 2019 (picture before the end of the year). By read, I mean I either actually read them or listened to the audio version (which I count as a book read). Here are my favorites of 2019. Biggest Surprise to Me: I have no idea why, but I resisted reading … Continue reading Books of 2019

It has been a while since I did a book date. Last time I wrote, I was in a reading slump and hoping The Johnstown Flood would break the slump-it did! Since that book, I have read the following: Class Mom: I really enjoyed this book! I had many laugh out loud moments. Looking forward … Continue reading Book Date

I am so lucky to have a local book store named An Unlikely Story. I've written about it before. It is my happy place. To go and browse books, have a coffee or lunch in the cafe and be able to hear authors speak is a joy. Today I went to a luncheon for one … Continue reading Lucky

I have lost my will to read. The horror. I am blaming this on being really sick all of May. I didn't read, didn't work out, missed work days and if I wasn't doing mom duties, I was in bed zoning out to Netflix (Father Brown) and Prime (Silent Witness). I just couldn't concentrate. So, … Continue reading Book Date

I finished The Library Book by Susan Orlean. A very enjoyable and educational read. I liked that the book moved back and forth between the 1986 fire/investigation and the history of the library. I found myself going online to find pictures of the art, architecture and additional background on the fire. I recommend this book. … Continue reading Book Date

Well, I gave up on my audio book (Next Year in Havana). It just wasn't keeping my attention. I'm sure I'll go back to it...maybe. Instead I'm listening to a book I heard about on NPR. My current listen is The Lost Girls of Paris. From the author of the runaway bestseller The Orphan’s Tale comes … Continue reading Book Date

My current read is Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. In the 1920s, the richest people per capita in the world were members of the Osage Indian Nation in Oklahoma. After oil was discovered beneath their land, the Osage rode in chauffeured automobiles, built mansions, and sent their children to study in Europe. … Continue reading Book Date

My first book post of 2019! My first book of the year was a sequel to a book I loved in 2018. I had received it via Net Galley months and months ago, but like a true book lover, I "saved" it. My first book of 2019 was Night of Miracles by Elizabeth Berg. This … Continue reading Book Date

It has been a while since I joined Book Date, Yarn Along and The Caffeinated Reader. Since my last join, I gave up on The Favorite Sister and gave it to my cousin. I finished How to Find Love in a Bookshop and really enjoyed it! I tried to read The Gunners, but returned it … Continue reading Book Date
