Leaving my comfort zone

Many of my friends knit, and my sister-in-law is convinced she will bring me over to “the dark side”.

I will admit, I like the look of knitted clothing garments more than crochet items.

So I thought, time to give it a try!

I purchased a  Craftsy.com  class and, although I like the class, I learned that I like the English method more than the Continental method.  Since the class is taught in the Continental method, I decided to purchase a few books to learn the basics and then use the class for the “putting it all together” project.

I purchased the following books:

Boye – I Taught Myself to Knit

Learn to Knit, Love to Knit

First Time Knitting: The Absolute Beginner’s Guide

The third book is the book I liked the best:

Knitting Book

I am doing well with the long-tail cast on and am currently practicing the knit stitch.

Making a simple scarf, cast on 20 stitches with bulky yarn.

So far, so good!

I don’t think my yarn will make a complete scarf, so I’ll be using a second color and making a color block scarf.

This way, I’ll learn how to join yarn.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting!
